*** Update: Thank you for praying! Caleb does not have SMA! Sweet little boy is continuing to work with physical therapists to grow his muscle strength!***
Hello old friends! I just popped on here to ask if you could pray for some dear friends of mine. My good friends Bryan and Karen have the sweetest little baby. Sunday at church, Bryan tearfully shared Caleb's story. Caleb has been struggling with low muscle tone for a little while now. They have ruled out some possibilities, and are now testing to see if sweet Caleb has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Bryan shared with us that 80% of children with SMA do not live to see their first birthday. There is no treatment, and there is no cure. Please pray that Caleb will be healed, and pray that the results show us that he does not have this disease! Pray that Bryan and Karen will have trusting hearts as they wait 6 weeks to find out the results. Pray that their family would have strength and unwavering trust in a loving God.
When Bryan was telling us about his little boy, he told us that Caleb simply loves trees. His little mind is fascinated by them, and he loves to look out the window at them. Bryan and Karen asked us to be reminded to pray for Caleb each time we see a tree. My heart was so struck when I heard Bryan say, through sobs, "I know there are a lot of trees. But my son needs a lot of prayer."
I know that most of you reading this blog don't know my friends Bryan and Karen. But I beg you to pray for them anyway. They waited for years to welcome a baby into this world, and now their lovely little baby is sick. It just tares my heart up to think about it. BUT. I believe in a Savior who has his hand in every situation. And I'm praying with all my might that he will heal baby Caleb.
"Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41:10
