Just a reminder, I work that the Goddard School (a preschool) in the 18-24 month old room.
1. By law, we have to change their diapers every two hours. That makes 16 diapers a day for me.
2. Even more if we find someone poopy between the diaper changing times.
3. There are no adult chairs in our room. Not even the little miniature chairs the 5 year olds get. We have little baby chairs in our room. Which means we sit on the floor. It's an entire afternoon of continuously getting up and down from the floor.
4. Out of the 8 kids we can have in our room at one time, 5 of them are biters. You got to be quick!
5. These kids climb. They climb everything and everyone.
6. Their vocabulary basically consists of "Mommy," "Daddy," and "More." As you can see, I don't really get any stimulating conversation from them.
7. They start potty training in this class. We only have a couple that actually go in the potty. They're boys. And their aim is not real good yet.
8. At our school, we have to use positive language. That means we can't tell them no. We can't phrase anything in a negative way. Instead of saying "Don't climb on the table." we have to say "put your feet on the floor." As you might guess, it's kind of hard to stick with that.
9. Even though the teachers can't say no, it is still the kids' favorite word.
10. This has nothing to do with the children, but it is unreasonably hot in our room. ALL THE TIME.
11. The art projects can get a little out of control. Sometimes it's just downright stressful.
12. To say the least, snack time is messy.
13. Everything you could imagine goes into their mouths. Toys, books, trash, mud, random things off the floor.... You name it!
I know you might hate this job, but I love it!

I think you are right, most people would hate your job. It takes a really special kind of person to teach especially at that age group. I am a Grandma and today I am keeping the 2 yr old. It is trying to say the least. I can't imagine not being able to say no. Their attention span is so short! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
Wow...sounds like most people would hate your job! But I'm sure you could also come up with reason people would love it? I hope! Haha! Have a good one!
That's really funny. Cause I do that with the two year old I own. And, he's a handful. I can only imagine it multiplied by 8.
Oh yes, I would hate your job. My 3- and 5-year-old girls test me just enough!
I like Steph's idea. Next week come up with 13 reasons you love it! I have a 13 month old in daycare....I hope she's a joy sometimes to them!
I know all about messes and eating things, though!
You are truly one of those special people, know that? I don't think I'd hate your job (well, other than the "don't say no" bit), but I'd sure burn out fast.
My hat's off to you. If it were up to me, you'd get a raise.
Grrrr...I'm getting so frustrated with Blogger's commenting bug. I'll try again! I'm shocked that you can't say NO! I give you permission to say NO to Jackson as many times as you want over Christmas. Can't wait to spend time with you!
Love ya,
AJ
I teach 5th grade, and I could make a list that wouldn't sound too different from yours on some days! : ) Ha!
Oh you are a brave sole! I think I will stay with my job...they don't bite, make messes, climp or even talk! The more I think of it I really Love my job...LOL

Girl, I can only imagine! I've got a 20 month old, and ONE is enough! I think I fainted when I thought about all those diapers you're changing!
